It makes the reader want to continue reading it as you get further into the story. Recently, there was a movie made for the book. The movie was good but it didn't really connect to the book very well. Some differences between the book and the movie are that some of the main events were different, a couple of the characters were changed, and they added some things that were not in the book. If the book didn't exist, the movie could be a movie all on its own.

In the movie, Alby and Gally's character was changed and they were nicer. Gally didn't like Thomas and was always trying to pin things against him. Alby was tougher in the book and used "foul language"; while in the movie the screenwriter lighten his attitude. In the book, Thomas and Minho run through the maze and Thomas sees a sign that says: "World In Catastrophe: Killzone Experiment Department". This refers to the corporation WICKED or in the movie WCKD. This reveals what WICKED stands for and it foreshadows what is happening and why the kids are in the maze. Later on, Minho shows Thomas a place called, "The Cliff". This is where the grievers reside in a hole that they don't see until later. In the movie, the grievers lived in a hole in a big wall.

Although the movie was different, it was still pretty good. It did show the main part of the book but the book was a lot better than the movie. The book was full of action, adventure, and it keeps you interested. The movie did have all of those points but was different from the book. I suggest to read the book and not be influenced by the movie. Over all, the book was better.
